The Issue

The UNODC undertook a 4 year project in Africa seeking to support Civil Society groups, human rights defenders and women’s rights activists become more engaged in the UNCAC Review process and anti-corruption work. After 4 years of undertaking this project, they wanted to understand how relevant, coherent, efficient, effective, impactful and sustainable the project had been. They also wanted to understand how inclusive the project had been with women and disadvantaged minorities.

The Solution

As evaluation team leader, Coralie worked with an anticorruption expert to develop a mixed method research approach to evaluate the project. Due to COVID-19 restrictions all work was to be undertaken remotely. The evaluation team developed an online survey which was sent to all the civil society groups involved in the project, and they undertook in-depth interviews with beneficiaries, stakeholders and project staff. The Most Significant Change approach was used to select three examples of impact.
